Today the cable television landscape got a little brighter for black women when news of a new HBO comedy series from Larry Wilmore and Issa Rae hit the Internet. Deadline, Vulture, Salon and Indiewire among others released what details they knew for excited Wilmore and Rae fans to read over and over and over again.
The show will star Rae, who has tackled the tribulations (and sometimes awkward experiences) of African-American women before in her web series Awkward Black Girl.
She will co-write with Wilmore, who was the creator of The Bernie Mac Show and is currently a correspondent on The Daily Show. The project aims to capture more of the awkward fun and trials black women face on a daily basis.
